Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

The Malawi Scotland Partnership is committed to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, and to the rights of the child in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).  We recognise our responsibility to ensure that these rights are upheld.  We do not tolerate any violation or infringement of those rights and strive to ensure that the needs, dignity and safety of all children and vulnerable people, regardless of gender, ethnicity, faith, ability or culture, are protected in our work.

The Malawi Scotland Partnership embraces, and commits itself to, an ethos of ‘do no harm’.  We take seriously our responsibilities to all those affected by our work and we have a zero tolerance policy to the abuse of power, bullying and harassment, or other forms of misconduct.

Our staff, Directors, volunteers and other direct representatives agree, and are accountable to, our Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct and Whistleblowing Policy.

 Our Members

The Malawi Scotland Partnership aims to promote and support safeguarding best practice in work being done between Malawi and Scotland. We are available to advise our members on policy development and the provision of appropriate training in this area. However, we do not have any regulatory, supervisory or operational role in relation to our members’ work in Malawi or  Scotland.
