CHICOSUDO is implementing a pilot project which is aiming at “Empowering 30 women in traditional authority Nkanda in Mulanje by equipping them with skills and tools to become self-reliant through tailoring and support”. The project is targeting 20 single mothers, survivors of child marriages and those affected by gender based violence. The project will run for five months starting from July and end on 30th November 2021.

In view of the financial constraints that a family faces, this skill-building project strives to empower the women, survivors of child brides and community at large. It was observed, if they are impacted with knowledge and skills, women would be given more avenues to earn their living. The project will also help them raise their voices against the ill treatments accorded to them within their families or outside. Hence, vocational training project (stitching & embroidery) will enable the rural women and girls to learn and enhance their skills, enhancing their confidence level by making themselves self-reliant.
