Malawi continues to mourn the death of the people lost to Cyclone Freddy and as  of 25th March, over 564,000 people have been displaced and are being accommodated in 577 camps. The death toll stands at 511, with 1,724 people injured and 533 missing.

The Malawi Defence Force and Malawi Police Service are continuing search and recovery operations, with assistance from international partners who are airlifting relief items to areas that are inaccessible by road. The national inter-agency assessment team is also supporting affected councils in assessing the total number of affected people and their needs, with the reports informing the finalisation of the response plan. The Scottish Government has also pledged 400,000 pounds support to the Cyclone Freddy recovery effort.
