Malawi Scotland Partnership-Young leader for Climate change Luke Makulani Mwale in conjunction with people in his community planted trees at Ndevu Hill in Ntchisi District to improve the environment.

The initiative aimed at bringing back the lost glory that the hill had before its deforestation.

Makulani who is also  Executive Director for Ntchisi Conservation Trust said that, dry rivers and wells, hot weather, stormy winds are among other problems that Ndevu villagers were facing because of the careless cutting down of trees that has been happening on the hill.

“As a young leader who has passion for Climate change I solicited funds, that has assisted us to buy 1100 tree seedlings that we have planted at the hill” Makulani said.

“I would like to thank the Malawi Scotland Partnership, Kevin Schenk, and Mark Ching’ombe fo the donation which made the tree planting activity possible. As a Climate Change Young Leader, I promise to take active roles in monitoring the progress and success of the greening Ndevu Reforestation Project” Makuluni said

Concurring with Makulani, Village Head woman Chagalawanda thanked the gesture that the conservation trust is doing in the area and promised to ensure that bylaws are formulated to ensure tree management.

Chagalawanda said that, there is need for the hill to be fully covered with trees, and she requested for additional seedlings to cover Ndevu Hill.
