Position Title: Programme Director
Position Summary: The Program Director will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to develop, organize, implement and monitor programs within MaSP. He/she shall also be responsible for the management of 3 permanent employees and over 10 interns. Furthermore, the Programme Director shall be responsible for the implementation of all MaSPguidelines and policies with the purpose of ensuring compliance with all government regulations, donors, members and stakeholders in line with the organization’s mission. Whenever necessary, the Programme Director shall deputize the CEO.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Programme Director shall have following duties and responsibilities:
- Planning and implementation
- Coordinate planning of annual and quarterly project work plans
- Ensuring that all donor funded project work plans are developed and submitted in good time using relevant templates.
- Develop relevant planning tools and share with all project staff
- Support CEO in the planning of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities
- Participate in the delivery of strategic research, monitoring and learning activities as well as training of staff and stakeholders in project management related aspects
- Model relationship building skills in all interactions, actively responding to member inquiries as and when it is necessary
- Raise awareness of MaSP through the organization’s communication plan to prospective members and partners and build strategic relationships
- Support the core granting negotiations with the Scottish Government
- Assist in the implementation of the Resource Mobilization Strategy
- Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of stakeholders
- Establish new programme activities and develop and maintain relevant partnerships
- Assist in dissemination of information to MaSP members, government, the Scottish government and the SMP
- Coordinate the use of facilities and manage events
- Identify and attend to the needs of members
- Reporting
- In collaboration with CEO, ensure that reporting tools are developed and in use at all levels of the organization
- Ensuring that a consolidated reporting schedule for all donor projects is developed and followed by all program team members
- Coordinate reporting of all donor funded projects and ensuring that all permanent staff and Interns adhere to reporting requirements
- Ensuring quality and timely submission of all donor reports
- Responsible for coordination and drafting organizational bi-annual and annual reports
- Conduct routing monitoring visits to project sites to verify and validate data and reports submitted by staff, partners and Interns
- Manage the organization’s member database and consider tailor made services
- Fundraising
- Participate in drafting of concept notes and proposals
- Ensure that a fundraising schedule is available all the time
- Coordinate internal fundraising committee meetings
- Making follow ups with potential donors on submitted proposals
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time by CEO
4.0 Experience and Education
- Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Humanities or International Development. Those with a Masters Degree will be preferred
- At least 8 years working experience in reputable organizations
- Must have previous experience in managing multi-sectoral programmes
- Must have prior training in Project Management
- Must have proficiency in the use of technology as an information management tool
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Must demonstrate leadership, multitasking and problem solving skills
- Must have a flexible schedule as you may be required to work beyond official hours
- Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility, span-of-control and performance
